Always at the ready to up-cycle, recycle and re-use we have today given new life to our easter tree!
After dismantling the tree of feathers, chicks, paper flowers and mini pompom garlands we were left with white painted twigs which was just what we needed for our next project, in short doodled twigs, joined together to create letters and o e for each of the mini1's....
Mini1 the letter 'M'
Mini2 the letter 'C'
Mini3 the letter 'A'
As our twigs were already painted white we doodled with felt pens but if you wish to use natural unpainted twigs then colourful (or white) poster or acrylic paint would be great for doodling.
Doodle twigs are great fun and can be transformed into all kinds of letters, objects or left as twigs, we will be bringing more as they proved to be lots of fun.

So mini1 came home yesterday with the easter bonnet letter in her book bag..... next Tuesday there will be an easter bonnet competition and egg hunt.
"We must make it now mummy, now, quick,"
Well yes we need to be zippy with it but Friday night was not the time instead we had a rummage in our craft cupboard for pipe cleaners, pom-poms, tissue paper and chicks and then up to the dressing up box for a hat and down to the cellar for the hot glue gun. All was then ready for when the time was right (before Tuesday) to get this hat done and paraded.
Today was not really going to be the bonnet making day as we had plans to go to a lovely party but mini mini1 had a bad croup attack and all plans have changed, so what better than be jolly making tissue paper flowers, nests and a jolly hat..... here is the bonnet and a cheery chickie one too currently being modelled by Lennie!

Think pink floaty yummy thoughts....
Oh and pompoms too.
Having my eldest turn 5 last week took me into the kitchen to create something girly but not princess character based (as requested!)
Mini1 has gone from yellow being her favourite colour to red and pink, so with that in mind I got colours together first and then the rest followed.
Pompom topper consisted of 5 pompoms in current fave colours and had to include a yellow one too, and 2 traditional pink stripe paper straws.
The cake itself was a rainbow of pinks which gave a fab ombré effect when we sliced our way through (little wow factor too). As for the finishing lashing of pink butter icing and marshmallows and a number 5 from a dear friend.
Here is how it went....
